![]() ![]() Along with different accessory options, furnishings and rail configurations, Premier also offers the 225 Cast Master with either outboard or stern drive power, and with either two or three 25-inch-diameter flotation tubes. One of the best things about Premier’s 225 Cast Master is that is can be customized by the factory in many different ways. Elsewhere aboard, you’ll find vertical rod holders, an ice chest, livewells located forward and aft, and a tackle center with lure storage drawers and a freshwater washdown system. In front of each seat, an additional tray with a drink holder and two lure compartments is attached to the boat’s wrap-around rail. These seats are well designed, built atop rotocast lockers with trays on the bases that hold beverages and lures. At each of its four corners, the 225 Cast Master has comfortably upholstered â Euro-styleâ bass fishing seats (although we’ve never actually met European bass fisherman, we’re sure they’re very cool). ![]() Fishing Buddy But let’s not forget this boat’s main purpose: fishing. And nearby, there’s a pop-up changing room that makes this boat even more suited to family-friendly cruising. A removable table between the two sofas turns this area into a great spot for friends and family to socialize while under way. Forward of the helm console, roomy upholstered sofas are positioned on each side, with cleverly designed in-arm storage compartments that can keep fenders and other gear secured. A pair of opening gates on each side of the helm provide ready access to the water. Anglers will appreciate the pair of horizontal rod storage lockers behind the helm on each side of the boat. #Castmaster pontoon fullThe console was topped by a tinted windshield, and the high-back pedestal-mounted helm chair behind it was both comfortable and conveniently positioned for full visibility. The center console helm of our test boat was extraordinarily well equipped, with a full array of standard instrumentation and helpful electronics - including a standard digital graphing sonar. User-friendly operation is one of this boat’s best features. We reached a top speed of 23.5 mph with our test boat’s 90 hp Honda four-stroke outboard engine, and we cruised at around 15 mph. We experienced strong winds of 15 to 20 knots in one direction, but we found our test boat to be equally fast going into the wind as it was running with the wind. We tested the new 225 Cast Master on a summer day, on a Minnesota lake. On our test boat, it was easy to get from one end of the boat to the other in a hurry. The Cast Master’s center console configuration is ideal for anglers, who need a full view of the action on the water and also need to be able to get to a fishing rod quickly, should something big start to bite. For that reason, the 225 Cast Master is actually something of a â Back to the Futureâ model - with creature comforts and fishing features that are a lot more extensive than those prehistoric pontoons. Against the Wind Adding a center console to a pontoon boat is considered to be a new design trend - but the very first pontoon boats ever built had center console helms, since they had little built-in furniture. There’s a lot to like about this new-for-2000 pontoon boat, whether you’re heading out for a day of serious fishing, or just taking the family out for a day cruise on the lake. But the 225 Cast Master offers features that few other pontoon boats can match - including deluxe rod lockers, upright rod holders, a pair of livewells, a two-section tackle center with a washdown system and Euro-style bass fishing seats with tackle trays. The 225 Cast Master offers all the luxury features you’d expect in a pontoon boat designed for family cruising: comfortable well-upholstered sofas, a premium stereo system, abundant drink holders and all the room you’d need for a family of 10 to come along for the ride. To address this new demand for a fishing-specific pontoon boat, Premier Marine has introduced several pontoon boats designed chiefly for sport anglers - and the center console 225 Cast Master is one of its most sophisticated fishing machines. That’s why many anglers have begun stepping up to something larger: a pontoon boat. These task-specific machines are great for getting to places anglers on shore can’t reach, but they’re a little small to bring along a lot of friends or family members - and most don’t offer many luxuries, or any space to stretch out and get comfortable. When anglers graduate from fishing on shore to fishing on the water, they often opt for a bass boat. ![]()
